- German World War II fighter pilot. Otto "Bruno" Kittel (21 February 1917 – 14 or 16 February 1945) was a German Luftwaffe flying ace who served throughout World War II in Europe. A flying ace or fighter ace is a military aviator credited with shooting down five or more enemy aircraft during aerial combat. He flew 583 combat missions, and fought on the Eastern Front, claiming 267 aerial victories, making him the fourth highest scoring ace in aviation history. Born 02/21/1917.
