- United States Army Medal of Honor recipient. Michael J. Daly (September 15, 1924 – July 25, 2008) was a United States Army officer who received the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in World War II. He received the medal for single-handedly eliminating 15 German solders, an entire German patrol and destroying three machine-gun nests. He resigned from the United States Military Academy after one year to fight in the war and was sent to Europe, participating in the D-Day landings at Omaha Beach. Born 09/15/1924. Died 07/25/2008.
