- United States federal judge. Charlton Reid Beattie (April 22, 1869 – August 23, 1925) was a United States federal judge. Beattie was born in Assumption Parish, Louisiana. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1889. He received a LL.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1891. He was in private practice in Thibodaux, Louisiana from 1892 to 1913.
