- United States federal judge. Robert Budd Gilchrist (September 28, 1796 – May 1, 1856) was a United States federal judge. Gilchrist was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He received an A.B. from South Carolina College in 1814. He received a A.M. from South Carolina College in 1817. He read law in 1818.
