- United States federal judge. Cornelius Holgate Hanford (April 21, 1849 – March 2, 1926) was a United States federal judge. Hanford was born in Winchester, Iowa. He read law in 1875. He was a Commissioner, U.S. District Court for the Territory of Washington from 1875 to 1876. He was in private practice in Seattle, Washington Territory from 1875 to 1889. He was a Member, Territorial Council, Washington Territory from 1877 to 1878. He was an assistant U.S. Attorney of the Territory of Washington from 1881 to 1886. Born 04/21/1849 in Winchester, Iowa.
