- United States federal judge. William Elwood Steckler (October 18, 1913 – March 8, 1995) was a United States federal judge. Steckler was born in Mount Vernon, Indiana. He received an LL.B. from Indiana University in 1936. He received a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1937. He was in private practice in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1937 to 1950.
