- American economist and educator. Elisha Benjamin Andrews (January 10, 1844 – October 30, 1917) was an American economist and educator, born in Hinsdale, New Hampshire. He served in Connecticut regiments during the Civil War. Graduating from Brown University in 1870 and from the Newton Theological Institution in 1874, he preached for one year and then was president of Denison University from 1875-79. Born 01/10/1844.
